Outlines of the Graduate School

The MasterNULLs program in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ibaraki University, consists of nine majors. Science major ( includes the Departments of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Sciences), seven majors of engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Molecular Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Media and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer and Information Sciences, Urban and Civil Engineering, and Intelligent Systems Engineering), and the Institute of Applied Beam Science major. The aim of the Graduate School program is to pursue a thorough learning that covers a broad field of vision, and to cultivate the necessary skills and abilities essential for the study in oneNULLs major field, and future occupation. Completing the MasterNULLs program requires two years.

In the Doctoral program, there are six majors of Materials Science, Industrial Science, Information and Systems Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental and Functional Sciences, and Institute of Applied Beam Science. Completing the Doctoral program requires three years.

The Department of Science and Engineering Graduate Course Admission Policy

The Department of Science and Engineering looks for students taking the entrance examination who:

(1) have a bachelorNULLs degree level of basic and expert knowledge concerning oneNULLs specific field, high aspirations and intellectual curiosity.

(2) challenge the concerns of science and engineering, have good problem solving skills, and the ability to judge and solve problems through the systematic gathering of information.

(3) aim at contributing to the sustainable development of human society and its harmonization with the natural environment through creative and executive abilities as a researcher and advanced expert.

Registration Methods of MasterNULLs Course

The registration methods of the MasterNULLs course are given below.

Recommendation selection This is for excellent students who have an eagerness to study and to do research at a graduate school, and who are recommended by the principal or by an adviser of a higher technical college or a university that the students are attending.
General Selection This is for students who donNULLt come under the recommendation selection or the special selection.
Special selection for working adults This is for people who have more than one year of work experience at the time of application.
Special selection for international students This is for people who do not have Japanese nationality with residence status (but are expected to obtain) without hindrance of enrollment.
Special selection for people who have attended the college more than three years This is for people who have attended the college for more than three years, and are recognized to have acquired the standard number of units with excellent grades by this graduate course. However, if there isnNULLt any early graduation system, your status on a studentNULLs enrollment record as an undergraduate student will be NULLleaving schoolNULL, so please be careful.

Registration Method of Doctoral Course

There are registration methods of Doctoral course as given below.

General selection This is for students who donNULLt come under special selections.
Special selection for working adults This is for people who have (or promised to have) work experience longer than the specified length of time.
Special selection for international students This is for people who do not have Japanese nationality with residence status (but are expected to obtain) without hindrance of enrollment.
